The noise surrounding Kieran Tierney seems to be getting louder and louder with every passing game.
The young Celtic left-back has been in sensational form this season and it’s remarkable to think he’s got his best years ahead of him.
He was ever-present against Bayern at home, defending and attacking in equal measure, giving their veteran midfielder Robben a torrid time, so much so they took him off Tierney’s wing.
The superlatives after the game to describe the young lad were flowing from pundits. However, one line I heard several times last night from pundits and supporters – “He’s just put his transfer fee up even more after that performance” – I agree with the sentiments, but the statement itself is pointless.
There can only be a transfer fee to talk about if there was an iota of a chance this bhoy wanted to leave, or Celtic wished to sell him. We just signed him up for another six years – talk of upping his transfer fee is so wide of the mark, it deserves a SEBO chant.
Every Celtic fan watching the bhoy grow up in front of our eyes is invested in Kieran Tierney. Every kick of the ball, every goal he manages to score, we’re kicking the ball with him. When we lose, we know he feels the same as we do, when we win we know he feels as good as we do.
In modern football, it’s so hard to find players who are loyal, who are supporters and who would give everything for the cause whether it be a game against Aberdeen or Anderlecht.
Kieran Tierney is here for the long haul, and while I hope pundits keep singing his praises – talk of his transfer fee will be wasted breath for a long time.
