Kieran Tierney Speaks as Celtic Return Becomes Official

Kieran Tierney has spoken of his joy at returning to Celtic, describing the feeling of pulling on the Hoops once again as “amazing.”

He admitted that the pull of Brendan Rodgers to bring him back was big, saying that the gaffer is one of the best in the business.

He got off to a great start at Arsenal, after overcoming his injury blows, but fell out of favour towards the end before he scored in his last game for the Gunners.

The Scotland international completed his move back to Parkhead earlier today, signing a five-year deal that runs until the summer of 2030. Speaking to Celtic TV after the official unveiling, Tierney couldn’t hide his excitement.

“Everybody’s known for a few months and just to be here with the Celtic strip on again just feels amazing,” he said to the club’s official site.

“I spoke with the manager, and obviously I had worked with him before and I’ve always kept in touch with him. He’s one of the best so I’m so lucky and grateful that he’s given me the chance to come back again.

“When you move away from home, you grow up, you learn different things. I was in Spain for a year, learning a different language and playing in a different league, so I’m definitely a different person.

“Player-wise, it’s the same as I always say – I’ll try and work my hardest, I’ll do my best for the club and that’s all I can do.

“My ambition is just for Celtic to be as successful as possible, retain our place at the top and continue to win trophies and do well for Celtic.”

Tierney turned down interest from top leagues across Europe, including the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga and Serie A, to return to the club he calls home.

He will wear the number 63 shirt again, a number now synonymous with the fan-favourite who is back where he belongs.

It’s a terrific signing for Celtic. Getting someone of KT’s calibre, in the peak of his career, is some top, top business, and fans are now hoping more signings will follow.

His return was one of football’s worst-kept secrets, but there aren’t many complaints.
