Currently plying his trade out in Spain for Real Sociedad, former Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has praised the man who gave him his senior bow.
Indeed back in April of 2015, it was then Hoops gaffer Ronny Deila, who spent two seasons with the club, that gave the defender his professional football debut. From then on, the rest was history for Tierney who moved to Arsenal in 2019 for a record fee.
Nowadays, he is spending his playing days in Spain, and he has recently spoken about Deila and the appreciation he has for him. He said (The Scottish Football Podcast via Glasgow Times): “I don’t think I have got an order of who has been best for me or who has been my favourite. Every manager who I have played for, I am so grateful. You look at the start, it would be Ronny Deila. He gave me my debut, so how can you look past that?”

Over the course of his career, Tierney has played under some top managers such as Brendan Rodgers, Unai Emery, and Mikel Arteta. Despite this, it is refreshing to see him give thanks to the man who gave him his first chance.
