Kieran Tierney has spoken openly about leaving Celtic in 2019 and whether he has any regrets now that the club didn’t manage ten in a row in 2021.

He was asked directly: “You left and the club got £25 million, a huge fee. But then we missed the 10. Did you ever sit in London thinking, ‘I wish I’d stayed and helped them get there’? And now, we’re on four in a row, you’ve signed for five, is there a wee part of you thinking this is your chance to put it right?”
Tierney laughed and called it a mad question but gave an honest reply. At the time he left, Celtic were well placed to land the ten, but things didn’t go to plan for several reasons. He said he’s fully focused now on what lies ahead and getting ready for the season.
He made it clear that he’s not looking back or trying to make up for anything. His aim now is to help this current team push on and win more trophies, using his experience to add to what’s already a strong squad.
He said: “That’s a mad question! But no — at the time, Celtic had a shot at the 10 and for different reasons it didn’t happen.
“I’m not thinking about the six now. I’m thinking about the next game, the season ahead. Just being ready.”
And the bonus is we got you back for nothing — can’t argue with that.
“Aye, that’s a fair deal!”

Tierney’s response reveals a man at peace with his career decisions and focused on the here and now.
He’s not burdened by what might have been in 2021, but is clearly committed to making a positive impact during his second stint at Celtic. His return on a free transfer now looks like shrewd business both for club and player.
For supporters, the key takeaway is Tierney’s sharp mindset, eyes on the ball, attention fixed on each game, and a readiness to add to Celtic’s winning tally. The past is the past. Now, it’s all about helping the Hoops conquer the next challenge.
