Kieran Tierney on Potential Celtic Return

KIERAN TIERNEY hasn’t ruled out a sensational return to Celtic before all is said and done after the Arsenal star opened up about his future.

The former Celtic academy star is about to reach 100 appearances for Arsenal, but finds himself down the pecking order at the moment. Kieran has struggled with injuries and upon his return, the team are doing so well, the manager is obviously reluctant to change things too much.

There’s no doubt Kieran has the talent to help Arsenal to a famous league campaign, but will he get the chance to be a big part of proceedings?

Speaking on BT Sport’s Currie Club podcast this week, the Celtic invincible spoke about a lot of things in his career, including his time at Celtic and the wrench of leaving.

When asked if he could return to the club, Kieran wasn’t ruling anything out: “I think when a player who loves the club leaves there’s always that, ‘what if he comes back’ and you can’t rule anything out,”

“I’m always going to love Celtic, I’m always going to support Celtic so you never know in football, you genuinely don’t.

Kieran is Celtic through and through. If he were to come back, you would like to see it when he still has gas in the tank rather than when he’s getting ready to retire. I’m not a massive advocate of players returning to a club, it rarely works out the second time around.

Celtic are forging their own path and are actually finally on a better footing in the left back position. Since Kieran left we have had a number of players who haven’t done so well. Greg Taylor would have been categorised as one of the players who struggled to play the position. However, this season, Greg has been fantastic and he knows Alexandro Bernabei is hot on his heels. We have competition and talent in the are once again.

While it would be great to see Kieran pull on the jersey again one day, it’s probably not going to happen.
