Celtic defender Nat Phillips put in a horrendous performance against Kilmarnock this afternoon. The call to start the Englishman, though, lies on Brendan Rodgers.
The double-treble-winning manager preferred the Liverpool loanee to both Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki. Both players were fit and available, although Rodgers went with Phillips who was woeful.
At the heart of the Hoops’ defence, the 26-year-old was bullied by Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins. To add to his woes, Phillips converted into his own net to level things up for Killie in the second half.

Throughout his short spell at the club, the defender has been nothing short of disappointing on the park. Fans have not been impressed by him, and the comparisons to Shane Duffy are damning but come as no surprise given his displays.
One wonders, however, if things would have been different today had Nawrocki or Lagerbielke got the nod. That lies on the manager, and although supporters do not know what goes on behind closed doors, one imagines neither the Swede or Pole can be any worse than Phillips.
