In a season where Celtic could potentially secure a treble and have largely overshadowed Rangers, former Rangers and Celtic striker Kenny Miller appears to be desperately searching for positives.
In his latest BBC Sportscene appearance, Miller claimed that Rangers have gone ‘toe to toe’ with Celtic during the era of Michael Beale, Rangers’ current manager.
Miller’s optimism seems to stem from a calculation of the Scottish Premiership points tally since Beale took over at Ibrox.
According to Miller, Rangers have picked up 55 points in the league since Beale’s arrival, while Celtic have picked up 54. However, this narrow focus on points since Beale’s arrival conveniently overlooks the broader context of the season.

Celtic have already secured the Viaplay Cup and the Scottish Premiership title, and they are on the cusp of a potential treble with the Scottish Cup Final against Inverness Caley Thistle on the horizon. In contrast, Rangers have had a trophyless season, with Beale considering a major summer rebuild.
Miller’s comments, while highlighting a small victory in a challenging season for Rangers, seem to be a desperate attempt to find positives in a season where Celtic have largely dominated. Celtic have dropped the points in the last two weeks AFTER they’ve won the league. To try and bring the points tally into focus is disingenuous at best.
