Keeping Our Big Hitters on Deadline Day Must Be Priority

Celtic’s transfer window has been it’s usual drab affair at times. It’s been like that for the last ten seasons. It doesn’t even bother me anymore.

The reason it doesn’t bother me is the transformation and progression of some of the unknown talents that have arrived at Celtic Park over the past number of years. Let’s keep things recent to prove a point – Dembele, Sviachenko, Roberts, Simunovic, Boyata, Armstrong, Craig Gordon. All first on a team sheet these days but who honestly got excited or knew too much about these players when they signed? Scott Sinclair was a little different; he was more familiar – a risk, yes, but a calculated one.

I and most Celtic fans are already excited about Ntcham; he looks like Wanyama with skill. We still have to see Benyu and Eboue get a good run in the team, but there is no way Rodgers spent just under 5 million for the pair without seeing something in them. Of course, we all know what we’re getting with Roberts whose loan deal was pushed over the line this week.

The point is, I’ve given up getting excited about a “name” getting sprawled across Sky Sports News at 11 pm tonight with some massive unveiling in the Celtic car park after midnight – Those days are gone.

Today, however, I’m far more anxious about losing players. Keiran Tierney and Moussa Dembele in particular.

Dembele seems to be on the radar of about five different clubs. It’s hard to believe one of them is not going to test Celtic’s resolve. Tierney is getting linked with Spurs.

Tierney is being linked with Spurs, and without green tinted specs, he is the best left back prospect in the UK with a huge future. The truth is they should be queuing up for him down south. Remeber Luke Shaw was worth over 30 million pounds.
