Shin Yamada is poised to leave Kawasaki Frontale today, in a move that edges him closer to completing a transfer to Celtic.

The Japanese forward has impressed at Kawasaki Frontale and caught the eye of several European scouts. Talk of Celtic’s interest has intensified following their need for a new striker to replace Kyogo.
Kawasaki’s official announcement noted that Yamada would take part in team activity before leaving, and that he would thank supporters at the Emperor’s Cup 3rd Round fixture against SC Sagamihara later today.
It’s no secret at this point that Yamada is heading for Celtic. While the official announcement is still to come, talk of a Premiership move has only grown louder. Attention now shifts to his post-match comments, and whether Celtic can finalise the deal.
Frontale Staff said: (X), “We hereby announce that, as of today, July 16 (Wednesday), player Shin Yamada will be leaving the team to proceed with preparations for a transfer to an overseas club.
“Further details will be announced once they are officially confirmed.
“Additionally, after the conclusion of the Emperor’s Cup 3rd Round match against SC Sagamihara today, Shin Yamada will address the supporters.”
All eyes are now on Yamada’s appearance in the Emperor’s Cup Round 3 tie against SC Sagamihara. It’s likely to be his final outing in Kawasaki colours before moving abroad. Supporters will hear directly from him after the match, and he may even hint at where he’s heading next.
Back in Glasgow, Celtic will be hoping their interest turns into a done deal. If the move is confirmed, Yamada could link up with the squad during pre-season at Lennoxtown, giving him a chance to settle in before the real action starts.

The signing would give Brendan Rodgers another attacking option, with Yamada able to play across the front line. He’d offer fresh competition and something different in the final third.
Celtic fans will be keeping a close eye on developments as confirmation of the Japanese forward’s next club draws near.
