New Celtic signing Jeffery Schlupp has revealed he sought the advice of Kasper Schmeichel before sealing his move to the Scottish champions on transfer deadline day.
The versatile 32-year-old joined the Hoops on a deal until the end of the season after leaving Crystal Palace, where he made nearly 250 appearances over eight years. His ability to operate in multiple positions made him an attractive option for Brendan Rodgers, who moved quickly to bring him in.
A Reunion Years in the Making
Schlupp and Schmeichel share a history dating back to Leicester City’s fairytale Premier League title win in 2015/16. Before committing to Celtic, the former Ghanaian international reached out to his old teammate for insight.

“Kasper was one of the first people I spoke to when this opportunity came up,” Schlupp told The Daily Record. “He messaged me, and we spoke, and he told me about how great the club is, how much I’ll enjoy playing here.
“To be able to play together again after such a long time and the memories we’ve got together, it’s going to be a special thing that I’m definitely looking forward to.”
Celtic Debut and What’s Next
Schlupp made his debut for the Hoops in Wednesday night’s dominant 6-0 win over Dundee, coming off the bench for Greg Taylor with 20 minutes to play .
With Celtic eyeing a domestic treble, he could be in line for his first start when Rodgers’ men take on Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup fifth round on Saturday .
