Kasper Schmeichel Takes to Instagram after ‘Perfect Night’

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel took to Instagram this afternoon, heralding what was a ‘perfect night’ for the Dane and the Hoops at Celtic Park against Dundee.

Despite not being the busiest in the 6-0 win, with just one save, Schmeichel did have 28 touches in the game and 6 throws, with his quick and effective distribution getting Celtic up the pitch as quickly and effectively as possible.

Schmeichel did, however, record his 18th clean sheet in the Scottish Premiership this season, having played 25 games, with Joe Hart recording 15 in the whole of last season in the league.

The Dane has already smashed that number and will look to continue keeping clean sheets as much as he possibly can in what is likely to be a historic season for the goalkeeper as well as Celtic.

The current record for clean sheets in a league season is 26 for Rangers in 2020/21. With 13 league games left, if Schmeichel can keep 8 more, he will match the record; however, he will need 9 more clean sheets to break it.

It’s not out of the realms of possibility given his unbelievable impact at Celtic this season; however, with the business end of the season approaching, it will be tough for Schmeichel and Celtic to achieve this. But with performances like last night, the Hoops will be hopeful.
