Kasper Schmeichel has provided an update on his injury status. The Celtic goalkeeper has been out since the international break in March with a shoulder injury.
Speaking this afternoon, Schmeichel sounded optimistic about his chances of being fit for next month’s Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen.

Viljami Sinisalo has deputised well in Schmeichel’s absence, keeping his second consecutive clean sheet this afternoon against Dundee United.
With Schmeichel facing a race against time to get fit — and also displace Sinisalo, who has been excellent since coming into the team against Hearts — the young goalkeeper is making a strong case for himself.
However, Schmeichel sounds desperate to be back, with next month’s Scottish Cup final firmly in his sights.
He said: (Sky Sports), “I hope so. I’ve got to wait for the fracture to heal now, but.
“We’re a long way down the line. I was in the warmup today, been training kind of probably 85/90% so the last few steps now, hopefully, will be back soon.”

It’s a positive update from Schmeichel on his fitness, giving Celtic a potential boost ahead of the final game of the season.
The more competition, the better for Celtic, and despite Sinisalo impressing in recent weeks, having both goalkeepers fit for the Scottish Cup final would be massive for Brendan Rodgers. Schmeichel also discussed his first season at Celtic.
He said: “I absolutely loved it. It’s amazing. I mean, look at it. We’re away from home. I don’t know how many stands we have. It’s everywhere we go. It’s incredible.
“You know, I knew from the moment that I signed here, when I met the team in America, I saw how many fans were there.”
Hopefully, we will see Schmeichel fully fit for the Scottish Cup final because, put simply, he deserves it after the season he’s had. Best of luck to him in his recovery over the next couple of weeks.
