Kasper Dolberg to Celtic Update as Asking Price Named

Celtic’s interest in Danish international Kasper Dolberg is genuine and growing, with reports confirming that the Parkhead club have submitted an official offer for the striker.

However, the bid is believed to fall short of Anderlecht’s asking price, which currently sits at over €10.5 million plus bonuses reports Het Nieuwsblad

Brendan Rodgers is a keen admirer of Dolberg and views the 27-year-old as a potential key addition to a squad that has lacked a clinical edge in front of goal since the departure of Kyogo Furuhashi and the uncertain future of Adam Idah.

While an initial offer has been made, it is described as significantly lower than what the Belgian club had anticipated.

Sources close to the deal suggest that Celtic would need be prepared to go as high as €12-13 million to get their man, should talks progress positively. Anderlecht, who crashed out of European competition last week, may be more inclined to sell now, but they remain firm in their valuation.

The ball is now in Celtic’s court. If they truly see Dolberg as the long-term solution up front, they’ll need to up their offer and move quickly with the transfer window set to slam shut on Monday night.

Rodgers is said to be pushing for reinforcements before any exits are sanctioned, including a potential move for Adam Idah to Swansea. A deal for Dolberg would almost certainly greenlight that exit and provide a much-needed lift after a frustrating summer window and the Champions League exit.
