Karamoko Dembele, might be poised for an unexpected return to the UK, just a year after his departure from Celtic.
His future in France is uncertain despite links to an imminent move to the English Championship.
Dembele’s transfer to Ligue 1 team, Brest, was a four-year agreement that saddened Celtic supporters, who believed he was going to be the next big thing at Parkhead.
The winger gained attention as a young teenager when videos of his skilled maneuvers in Celtic’s youth teams began to make rounds on social media. His popularity quickly escalated after an impressive debut with the Under-20s team in a 2016 game against Hearts, at just 13 years old.
Predictably, he drew the interest of European powerhouses but he remained at Lennoxtown. Dembele’s competitive debut for the senior team was against Hearts in 2019 under Neil Lennon’s management, but consistent appearances on the senior side proved elusive.
Despite having played for England and Scotland’s youth international teams, Dembele only featured in 10 matches for Celtic, falling short of expectations. Consequently, he opted to leave last summer after his contract expired.
Nonetheless, the possibility of another move is on the horizon this transfer window, with Blackburn Rovers reportedly keen on adding him to their roster. As per reports from L’Equipe, Blackburn’s manager Jon Dahl Tomasson has marked Dembele as a potential recruit to bolster his squad.
