It’s not uncommon for young footballers to receive a lot of attention and praise for their performances at a youth level. However, this can often lead to unrealistic expectations and a sense of entitlement, ultimately hindering their progress. Karamoko Dembele was a prime example of this, as he was lauded for his skills at Celtic but never quite managed to secure a regular place in the first-team squad.
It’s important for young players to remember that success on the pitch requires hard work and dedication and that getting too much too soon off the pitch can be a pitfall that ultimately hinders their progress.
