Juranovic’s World Cup Exit Has Significant Celtic Implications – Opinion

Josip Juranovic has crashed out of the World Cup with Croatia after another Messi masterclass.

The Celtic defender has had a top tournament, but the semi final was a bridge too far for Josip and his Croatian teammates.

Argentina progress to the World Cup final while Croatia will now gear up for a third place play-off against either France or Morocco.

Juranovic will still be with the Croatian camp until the weekend, but we expect more movement on the defender’s future now that the high stakes of the World Cup have been taken out of the equation.

Juranovic’s Celtic future has been a source of a lot of speculation in Scotland. However, the player made it clear he wasn’t going to entertain any of it until after the World Cup [Mail Sport]. We suspect the third place playoff won’t be enough to keep Juranovic off the phone to his agent.

The window doesn’t open until January. Considering Celtic have already signed another right back in Alistair Johnston we’d expect more solid speculation and a more concrete figure Celtic are looking to get for Josip.

It’s no guarantee Celtic will sell Josip in January, but I’d personally be surprised if the Croatian was still a Celtic player come Feb 1st.

Celtic has Juranovic tied up until 2026. You have to think the bhoys are looking at a hefty offer.
