Christopher Jullien ended his three year stay at Celtic this week, returning to France and signing for Montpellier.
The defender missed over a year of action after colliding with the goal post back at the end of 2020. Upon his return to fitness, his Celtic career had passed his by. A new team, new manager and a new direction saw Chris frozen out of what was going on.
The Celtic manager, Ange Postecoglou, didn’t see the value in Chris being in his squad. There were multiple times when Nir Bitton was on the bench at the expense of Jullien to play back up as a centre back. This was down to the Israeli being able to cover two positions on the field.

Before his injury, Chris was a massive part of the Celtic team. It’s fair to say he was Neil Lennon’s number one centre back.
The last minute goal at Celtic Park against Lazio and the iconic Hampden winner in the Fraser Forster cup final in 2019 will always be remembered.
Chris leaves the club with everyone’s well wishes, on his way out, the 29-year-old wrote and published an emotional message to the Celtic support.
