CHRIS JULLIEN has passed his extensive medical in France and is now set to leave Celtic to join Montpellier in Ligue 1, L’Equipe reports.
The defender will depart Celtic and join the French side permanently, set to pen a three-year deal with the club. Celtic will receive a fee of just £850,000, a fraction of the £7 million they spent on him in 2019. There aren’t thought to be any future add-ons to the fee.
It’s a decent fee, all things considered. Jullien is into the last year of his contract and has only featured once competitively since he returned from his 13-month injury. Clearly, he wasn’t in the manager’s plans, signing Moritz Jenz after the Frenchman failed to impress during pre-season. His attitude has also come under question, with the 29-year-old visibly showing his unwillingness to be at the club.
As the window winds down, the focus will be on departures, with the Celtic manager looking to trim his squad. Ajeti is also thought to be joining Jullien and making a permanent exit, with Mikey Johnston weighing up his options.
