Jude Bonnar Reflects on Dream Celtic Debut

Jude Bonnar’s debut for Celtic’s first team at Celtic Park against Aberdeen was a momentous occasion, not only for the young player but for all those who have watched him rise through the ranks of the academy.

A Dream Come True

When asked about the emotions of making his first-team debut, Jude could barely contain his joy.

He said: (Celtic FC YouTube), “It’s hard to put into words. It’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was wee, so just getting the call-up and being able to come on is just class,” he explained.

For any young player who has spent their formative years dreaming of playing for the club, stepping out onto the hallowed turf of Celtic Park must be a surreal experience. For Jude, that moment was the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and an unwavering belief in his potential.

Learning from the Legends

Jude has been at Celtic since the age of seven, and having been part of the club for so long, his connection to the green and white hoops runs deep. However, stepping onto the pitch alongside first-team regulars who have won countless titles was another step entirely. “It’s crazy, you know, training with them, being up recently every day, just seeing what they’re all about and being amongst it just makes you feel class,” he said, reflecting on the opportunity to learn from some of the best.

A Confidence Boost for the Future

For any young player, getting the chance to train and play with established first-team players is invaluable. For Jude, it’s not just a chance to learn, but a tremendous boost to his confidence. “It just motivates me even more, especially training with them, the quality of them, being able to keep up, it’s just a good confidence boost,” he shared. Training with top-tier players who set the bar high pushes Jude to continually improve, providing him with the belief that he can not only match the quality around him but contribute to the team’s success in the future.

Praise for the Team’s Performance

Celtic’s victory over Aberdeen was resounding, and Jude was quick to praise the team’s relentless approach. “Oh, they’re unreal, they don’t stop. It makes it easier coming on because of the pace they’re playing at,” he said. The high-intensity style that Celtic is known for makes it challenging for any opposition, and Jude highlighted just how much of a difference it made for him. “It’s hard to just beat the other team down. It just makes it easier because of how good they’re playing,” he added, showing his admiration for the relentless pressure Celtic puts on their opponents.

Gratitude for the Manager’s Trust

Brendan Rodgers has a reputation for nurturing young talent, but he doesn’t give opportunities unless the player proves they deserve it. For Jude, having earned that trust meant everything. “I’m just grateful he’s trusting me enough to step on a pitch where they’re playing,” he said. The advice given by Rodgers was simple but crucial: “Just enjoy it, just make sure you’re focused and I just enjoy it.”

With a solid foundation, the support of his teammates, and the guidance of a manager who believes in him, the sky is the limit for Jude at Celtic Football Club.
