Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos who has been following Vasilis Barkas at Celtic and his potential to move away from the club this season is reporting the player is now settled in Glasgow.
Barkas had a nightmare first season where he was in and out of the side before being dropped altogether by Neil Lennon. John Kennedy also favoured Scott Bain and it wasn’t until the Scottish goalkeeper injured himself late in the season that Barkas got some game time.
There was a suggestion Celtic could look to move Barkas on with clubs in Greece potentially looking at a loan deal with an option to buy.
Giannis rules that out and he puts it down to Ange Postecoglou showing some faith in the keeper in the first two games of pre-season.
Barkas appears to be settled in Celtic. No1 with Postecoglou in friendly matches v Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton. Thoughts for a loan are now gone @CelticFC #Celtic #CelticFC #Barkas

Barkas has started the two games but he’s got as much time as Scott Bain.
There’s no definitive proof Ange is ready to go with either, we’ll likely get a better idea after the Bristol City friendly on Wednesday.
Both goalkeepers were poor last season and there’s a fear Ange is walking into a trap where he finds out he can’t trust either Bain or Barkas when the season has already kicked off.
It’s the pitfall of the manager coming in pretty late on and not having the full picture from last season.
Can Barkas be salvaged? It remains to be seen at this point, but we believe the manager is going to try.
