Nicolas Kuhn signing for Celtic seems to be a case of when rather than if. There was a breakthrough in a deal over the weekend, and it now looks imminent.
A medical looks set for Monday and the finances behind the transfer have been revealed by Mark Hendry. He stated on X that the hoops paid an initial sum of £2.8 million for Kuhn, but it will eventually rise above £3 million. One can only assume such an increase is down to bonuses such as appearances.
As ever, the quality of a player and how they may do at Celtic should never be judged based-off a transfer fee. Some of the club’s best players over the past decade have been signed for minimal amounts.

Kuhn will want to add his name to this list, and the 24-year-old certainly has quality. Having turned out for RB Leipzig, Ajax, and Bayern Munich, he has been through some prestigious systems and has recently found some stability in his career.
Brendan Rodgers looks keen to work with the winger who loves to cut inside from the right on his left foot. Kuhn has all the attributes to succeed under the Irishman, but we must be patient with the player and not put drastic pressure on him to immediately hit the ground running at his new club.
