Former Celtic winger Jota is on the verge of signing for French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais just over 12 months after leaving the Hoops for Saudi Arabia.

The flamboyant wide-man completed a shock, big-money transfer to the Middle East last summer, but his time with Al-Ittihad didn’t go to plan.
A year on, he is set to leave, with a move back to Europe on the cards.
Rennes seem to have won the race for the 25-year-old and according to Fabrizio Romano, will pay a relatively low fee for his services.
Indeed, on X, Romano states that the French side is paying around 8m euros for Jota, which roughly translates to just £6.7m.
Many have pondered why Celtic haven’t asked the question, but with significant financial backing, Rennes will likely be paying the winger a healthy wage.
His new side isn’t in Europe this season, but the opportunity for Jota to shine in one of the continent’s top leagues and consequently end his Saudi nightmare will have been difficult to turn down.
