Celtic signed James McCarthy last summer, with the Irishman penning a four-year deal with the club.
The signing confused the Celtic support. He doesn’t fit Ange’s system, and the length of the contract was baffling, given his age and injury past.
However, he did bring some experience to the side, and the emergency backup option for Postecoglou. He was used by the manager, particularly in the first half of the season, to fill the void that injured players left.
He is a great character in the dressing room, Jota has admitted he’s the funniest player and really helped him settle in, as did the full squad.
The tricky winger said;

Despite being an odd signing, you can understand why it happened.
in a season like last, a few experienced heads were needed, especially with so many players from across the world joining Celtic in the same window.
However, the four-year deal was idiotic, with the player likely to earn a wage without playing for the remainder of his Celtic career.
