JOSIP JURANOVIC has refused to be drawn into the transfer speculation that’s surrounded him since before the World Cup.
There were rumours before the football shutdown Josip could be heading for a Parkhead exit. Those rumours have been fuelled further by Celtic signing Canadian right back Alistair Johnston.
The Hoops shelled out some decent cash to Montreal to secure the signing of Johnston and it’s left Juranovic’s future up in the air.
However, the player made it clear to his agent to leave transfer chat off the table while he’s playing at the World Cup with Croatia.
As quoted by FootballScotland said: “Honestly, I haven’t read what was written since we arrived. We’re just focused on the national team. I even told my agent not to send me anything, I’m not interested at all right now. I want to do something for myself, my future sons and daughters, I want to tell them the story of what we did and to be proud.
“I may not be a player worth 20-30 million Euros, but you must know one thing. I never gave up, even when I was in Hajduk and Dubrava, nor in Celtic, nor in Croatia. My parents taught me to look forward. Life tells strange stories, I stuck to my point that I needed to prove myself on the field.”
Croatia are in the semi-final of the World Cup and Josip is rightfully concentrating on getting to the final.
There won’t be many Celtic fans who would be sad if the defender stays until the summer while Johnston slowly bends into the team. However; nothing can be off the table come January. Given the Celtic star’s performance so far in the tournament and a man of the match display against Brazil, the Hoops could be fielding some mouth watering offers.
