Jorge Cadete – “Surprised By Celtic Supporters”

You may find some division on Jorge Cadete among Celtic fans with why and how he left the football club, but nobody ever argues about his talent. He was one part of a famous trio steeped in talent.

There was some bad feeling in some sections with how the trio of Cadete, Di Canio and Hooijdonk left Paradise. The reality is Celtic fans were treated to football the “Glasgow Celtic Way” with these players spearheading the attack.

The Portuguese striker scored 38 goals in 49 games under Tommy Burns. Jorge could have been a Celtic legend had he not quit the club after just one season. Celtic’s former chief executive, Jock Brown told a Celtic podcast a few years back that he thought he had a new deal sewn up for the striker when he met Jorge in Portugal but by the time he had landed back in Scotland he was greeted by a voicemail from an emotional Cadete that he could not come back to Glasgow.

One Celtic supporter has made sure Cadete’s contribution to the club will be forever a part of Celtic Park with a personalised engraved brick on the “Double Treble” wall of fame. The Celtic fan, joe_di_canio_7, posted the certificate to his Instagram and Cadete gave the following response.
