Jonjoe Kenny Opens Up About Deadline Day Move

Celtic new boy, Jonjoe Kenny has opened up on a ‘brilliant first few days’ at the club since joining on loan until the end of the season from English Premier League side Everton.

Speaking to the official Celtic website, Kenny spoke about jumping straight into things, making his debut just a day after joining the club and the warm welcome he has received since making the move up north.

“It was a brilliant first few days, actually. It was good to arrive and just get straight into it. I had the chance to have a chat with the gaffer on the day I signed and he made me feel welcome.

“I did a training session right after that and then the Kilmarnock game was the following day. I was happy with jumping straight into things because that’s what I want to be doing.

“That quick turnaround really helped me settle in right away because I didn’t have time to think about things, it was all about the football and that’s what you want.

“I knew a couple of the boys already. I knew Greg, and Shane as well because he was at Everton when I was younger. The thing that helped me settle the most was the lads were brilliant with me.

“When the lads make you feel so welcome like they did and you have that communication going on during the game, then it makes a huge difference.”

The right-back put in an impressive display on his debut in the Hoops 4-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Tuesday night, in what was only Celtic’s 2nd win of 2021.

A lot have heaped praise on the 23-year old for making the move to the club at a very difficult stage which would see many other players opting against a  move to Scotland and Celtic.

Kenny will likely fill in at right-back until the end of the season as a replacement for Jeremie Frimpong who departed the club for Bayern Leverkusen in the January transfer window.
