John Hartson Makes Bold Claim About Celtic Captain

JOHN HARTSON has put Scott Brown in with the very highest of legends when it comes to what he’s contributed to Celtic over his career.

The Welshman who since leaving the club has become a massive Celtic fan himself admits the current Celtic captain is right up there. Brown has lead Celtic to an unprecedented double treble and with less than a third of this season left to go, a triple treble is still on the table.

Hartson also exonerated Brown of any blame for being sent off in the aftermath of his late goal. The former goal hero knows what it’s like to score a late important winner and how the adrenaline kicks in.

Writing in his EveningTimes Column Hartson said: “You talk about Henrik Larsson and Jimmy Johnstone, Paul McStay, Jimmy McGrory, the Lisbon Lions and Billy McNeill, but for me Scott Brown has joined the list of legends at Celtic Park.

“When you look at what he has offered over the last decade or so in terms of leadership and drive and in terms of his medal haul, he has got to be up there. And I thought he dragged the team to that win at Kilmarnock yesterday Let’s not forget that three months ago, there were people who had retired him.

“And I can see why he went mental when he scored that goal at Rugby Park yesterday – I would have reacted exactly the same.”

Brown recently signed a two-year deal with the club which will see him reach for ten in a row with his teammates. The midfielder will probably start to play a diminishing role in the team as time goes by but right now he still has a few more moments like Sunday in him for sure.
