Johan Mjallby Pinpoints Vital Celtic Recruitment

JOHAN MJALLBY believes Celtic must get a deal for Carter-Vickers completed, and have a backup plan in case the loan doesn’t become permanent in the summer.

The former Celtic defender believes that having a settled back four will be pivotal to Celtic’s success next season.

Quoted by the Scotsman, Johan Mjallby explained;

“You have the core of a good squad” Johan explained. “You have youth in the team but you need that experience as well.

“If you have a settled back four and a central defensive partnership then it’s important you try to keep Cameron and tie him up to a new deal.

“Even if it doesn’t go to plan then they need to be able to get someone else to come in.

“I don’t think the fans have to worry about the club being content.”

Signing Carter-Vickers won’t be enough for Celtic, the injury scare with Starfelt shows this. Celtic must recognise this too, actively searching for other defenders they can bring to the club in the summer.

Jullien looks as if he’s on his way out of the club, but it’ll be interesting to see if he sticks around for a bit longer with Starfelt potentially out for the start of the season.

On the Carter-Vickers front, it looks as if a deal is close to being struck with the player making his intentions clear. It’s now in the hands of Spurs and Celtic to agree on the final details.
