Joey Barton Ignites Fresh Scott Brown Row

Former Celtic captain Scott Brown is enjoying his first season in management down at Fleetwood Town in English League One.

The club currently sit 15th in the table and had an historic FA Cup run which seen them knocked out at the fifth round.

Their most recent match came against Bristol Rovers on Monday with a 2-1 defeat seeing the Fishermen’s opponents leapfrog them into 14th place.

Funnily enough, the manager of Bristol Rovers is someone Brown has previous history with, Joey Barton.

The Englishman didn’t stay in Scottish football for long after Brown utterly dominated him in a 5-1 Glasgow derby win at Parkhead.

Nonetheless, Barton has aimed criticism at Brown and said how the former Celtic captain’s tactics are to ‘kick it long’.

Barton also said the club has went downhill since his departure and Brown’s arrival (Bristol Live):

“He [Fleetwood’s chairman] was a fool to sack me, as he knows, and you can see from the style of football and where the club has gone since.”

In fairness, Barton did come up with some praise for his now managerial and former midfield counterpart:

“To be fair to Scott, he’s turned them around, had a good cup run and picked them up in the table. It’s taken a bit of time.”

Despite this, it still does appear there is no love lost for Brown from Barton.

The Celtic legend assuredly got in the former Man City, Newcastle, QPR, Marseille, Burnley and Rangers man’s head when he was in Glasgow and it appears it has stuck on to this day.
