Joe Hart Reveals Reasons Behind Brendan Rodgers Turnaround Last Season

Joe Hart spoke honestly about the challenges Brendan Rodgers faced last season in taking over from Ange Postecoglou while on Match of the Day this evening.

Hart highlighted how Postecoglou had left a significant mark on the team with his unique style and approach, which made Rodgers’ job in taking over particularly tough.

Hart said: (Match of the Day), “Brendan came in, there were a few murmurs, it was his second tenure at the club. Ange Postecoglou had really laid his stamp, you know, we’ve seen now in England and at Tottenham what a feeling he has with the fans, and that wasn’t lost on the Celtic faithful. We played some incredible football, and Brendan came in, and it was a tough role to take over. And do you know what I love about it? He just took his time.

“He kind of understood that we had been well-drilled under the Ange Postecoglou regime; we had ways of playing, people had certain triggers which he couldn’t just erase, you can’t just erase them.

“So he slowly worked his way in, and I personally wasn’t quite sure, is he gonna put his stamp on this? And then, four or three months to go, Brendan stepped up, let everyone know what it meant for Celtic to be a Celtic player, and all of a sudden, we started just with the little tweaks, the minor changes of what he already had. He complemented what a great job Ange had done and just put his sting on it, and we really felt it as players.”

Hart’s appearance was nothing short of sensational, offering an eye-opening perspective on Brendan Rodgers’ meticulous managerial approach.

Hart highlighted how Rodgers chose to be patient and respectful of the existing blueprint created by Ange Postecoglou, rather than completely overhauling it.

Instead, Rodgers focused on enhancing and altering the team’s performance with thoughtful adjustments and improvements.

This patience was clearly demonstrated in Celtic’s incredible 5-1 winover Slovan Bratislava at Celtic Park this evening, showcasing the effectiveness of Rodgers’ methodical approach.
