Joe Hart Comments on Celtic Contract Situation

Celtic ‘keeper Joe Hart has started in all but one game for the Hoops this season. The Englishman has been a key contributor for his side not just in this campaign, but over the past few.

Hart has made the position between the sticks his own, but he does have less than a year left on his contract at Parkhead. This has posed the question of whether or not he will extend his deal.

In a press conference prior to the Ross County match, the 36-year-old was quizzed on the matter. He said (Football Scotland): “Nothing that I’m aware of. I’ve said it before, I’m staying out of that business. That’s for the people above my head to talk about. I’m just so focused on trying to do my best for this team, enjoy every moment, enjoy every minute and try to give myself to help as best I can.”

Many were of the opinion that Celtic should have signed a new number one over the summer. Croatia’s Dominik Livakovic was linked with a move to Parkhead but nothing materialised.

Hart has rarely put a foot wrong under Brendan Rodgers, who seems to trust the veteran. Things could change next year, though, as the Irishman looks to continually improve the squad and mould it into one that can compete both domestically and in Europe.
