Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin is already looking ahead to his side’s top-of-the-table clash with Celtic in just under a fortnight.

The Dons kept up the pace with the Hoops yesterday, maintaining their perfect start to the league campaign with a late 3-2 win over Hearts.

In a topsy-turvy clash at Pittodrie, substitute Ante Palaversa came off the bench to bag the winner, finishing into the roof of the net from inside the box.

Aberdeen remain on the same number of points as Celtic after seven Premiership matches, but the Hoops’ healthy goal difference gives them a slight advantage going into the hotly anticipated match-up a week on Saturday.

Thelin, who has done no wrong since moving to the Granite City, brings his Reds team to Glasgow next weekend for a blockbuster clash.

He looked ahead to the game after yesterday’s dramatic victory.

“Celtic are good, but we have to prepare ourselves and we usually respect every opponent,” he said (RecordSport).

“Of course you see how they play at home and these kinds of things. But we have to prepare ourselves and try to have a really good performance and get a good result.

“So we don’t change our preparations or the way we work and then we’re going to reload and prepare for that game.

“Yeah, I’m going to focus on that a little bit further down the line, but now today. Like I told you, we’re going to relax today and then we’re going to prepare ourselves for this game.”

Celtic Park will be rocking for the table-topping clash next Saturday.

The Dons’ impressive start to the campaign has thrown a spanner into the Scottish football works and left many surprised.

The match at Parkhead against the champions will be a true test of their mettle and perhaps an indicator of whether they can sustain a real title challenge throughout the season.
