Jeffrey Schlupp’s Crystal Palace Wage

Celtic are on the verge of securing the loan signing of Jeffrey Schlupp until the end of the season, with reports suggesting the deal is now done. Even transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has weighed in, confirming the move is verbally finalised.

Celtsarehere understands the final hurdle with Celtic was negotiating how much of the Ghanaian’s wages they would cover. According to Spotrac, Schlupp is on around £60,000 per week at Crystal Palace, but it is unlikely Celtic will pay anywhere near half of that, with a more modest contribution likely negotiated.

With Greg Taylor lacking competition following the departures of Alexandro Bernabei and Alex Valle, Celtic have been working to add defensive reinforcements before the transfer deadline. Schlupp, a versatile option at left-back, left-wing, and central midfield, offers Brendan Rodgers much-needed flexibility in the squad.

Celtic were hopeful of bringing Kieran Tierney back to Celtic Park this month after agreeing on a pre-contract agreement with the Arsenal left-back, but the London club have refused to let him go. Leaving Celtic needing a stop-gap.

At 32, Schlupp brings experience and a driven mentality to a Celtic side pushing for further domestic success and a run in Europe. With the Hoops already securing the League Cup against Rangers and aiming for a potential treble, Schlupp’s arrival adds much-needed depth to the squad at a crucial stage of the season.

With the January transfer window closing tonight , Celtic appear to have got a late deal over the line as Rodgers fine-tunes his squad for the title run-in.
