TOMOKI IWATA had to make seven appearances from the bench before he could make his first start in green and white.

The Japanese midfielder grabbed the opportunity given to him by the manager and had a great game on Sunday.
Overall, he looked a really tidy player, knicking in to get the ball back for his team, cutting out passes, and even creating some space in the attacking third of the pitch as he looked to make some chances for his side, pushing forward. He was great on the ball, and rarely wasted it.
He kept the game ticking, but it was at the expense of Callum McGregor, who was by no means poor in Dingwall, but he can offer so much more in the number six position than he can playing a more advanced role.
It’s going to be hard to fit Iwata into the team unless he can play a role further forward. With Hatate, Mooy and O’Riley already fighting for the advanced position, it’s already a highly competitive position.
No doubt Ange Postecoglou has a plan in his mind.
