‘I’ve Taken a Step Back’ Neil Lennon Confirms Lennoxtown Change and Nicky Hammond Role

Neil Lennon got to speak at the club’s AGM on Wednesday and for the manager it was an easy enough ride considering he has the team playing well on the park.

The Irishman hit a number of points during the meeting including his return, the new way he utilises his coaches as well as recruitment.

Lenny also spoke about the Lazio games and his pride at the results.

Celtic have been in a season of transition in many ways. New ideas, coaching and recruitment coming into the fold and to this point it’s been working

Celtic currently sit top of the table domestically, they’re top of their Europa group and in the final of the League Cup. You can’t ask for much more right now.

Speaking about his return as cited by RecordSport, the former Celtic captain wasn’t expecting to be offered the job in the showers.

Neil Lennon on Returning to Celtic full time:

“I wasn’t expecting the job offer in the showers! John and Damien bring energy and intelligence

“Those two do the most of the work on the training pitch. I’ve taken a step back.

“Damien’s work the the wingers is vital.

Neil Lennon on Nicky Hammond:

“Hammond has been a massive help. We’ve replaced (departed) players with quality.

“There was a huge gap in recruitment when Brendan and Lee (Congerton) left.

“It was important he had a look at it first.

“He produced a brilliant report and he is my go to guy. His personality energises you.”

Neil Lennon on Lazio:

“Lazio meant everything to me. The passion on the pitch was mirrored off the pitch.

“The crackle in the air was the same as the Barcelona night. It’s important we enhance our reputation in Europe.

Hopefully Lenny and the bhoys can make a bit of history by finishing top of the group.
