It will take time for Celtic to fully click into gear under new manager Brendan Rodgers, according to midfielder Matt O’Riley. The Danish youth international has impressed under the Irishman so far but thinks the team could take a while to be free-flowing.
The 22-year-old spoke to the media and said (Glasgow Times): “We have a new manager, a new style and lots of new players with different cultures. So, it’s going to take time. That’s natural. Look, we’d like to improve as quickly as possible because there are big games coming up every week. But at this stage it will always be a work in progress for the next couple of weeks. In the coming months I think you’ll see a much better team.”

The consensus here from O’Riley is that Celtic are a team in transition. On the pitch, that is evident despite most players being the same as last season.
Nevertheless, Rodgers wants to drill his way of playing into the squad. It may take time, but it will be worth it in the end. The Irishman does need to secure results in the present, though, particularly after Sunday’s league cup defeat to Kilmarnock.
