Brendan Rodgers’ unexpected return to Celtic was a surprise that left many fans with mixed feelings. However, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has again commended Rodgers for his courage in taking up the mantle.
During a recent episode of the BBC 606 radio show, Sutton, alongside Robbie Savage, discussed the warm welcome Rodgers received at Celtic Park before the match against Ross County. Sutton noted, “The reception he got? It was good. I mean, there is a section of the support at Celtic who made their feelings clear when Brendan returned.”
Sutton emphasised the importance of unity among the club’s supporters. “But when you actually think, supporters of a football club, they all need to pull in the same direction for the club to move on.”

Rodgers’ return to Celtic Park, filled with 60,000 supporters, was undoubtedly a nerve-wracking experience. However, the Celtic faithful showed their class by giving him a rousing reception, demonstrating their readiness to support him in his second stint as the Celtic manager.
Sutton’s comments highlight the need for unity and support as the club navigates a busy schedule. The Celtic fans, known for their unwavering support, will undoubtedly rally behind their team and their returning manager, as they did during Saturday’s match.
The bhoys started off the new campaign with a 4-2 win against Ross County. David Turnbull got the new era off to a brilliant start which was another surprise.
David found starts hard to come by under Ange Postecoglou, and in Rodgers’ first match back, he’s trusted to go and make things happen. The former Motherwell man will be delighted with his performance.
There is no time to rest for Brendan and the bhoys; there is another big game on Sunday away to Aberdeen. On top of that, there are three weeks left of the transfer window where the club are looking to do business,
