‘It Must Be Tough’; David Turnbull Salutes Celtic Team-mate Soro

During this season, it would be fair to say Celtic haven’t had many shining lights. However in the last month or so we have started to see some with the emergence of midfielders Ismaila Soro and David Turnbull with some top performances from the duo in December.

Yesterday, Turnbull, in particular, received his award for this breakout month for the Scotland u21 international, winning SPFL Player of the Month in December.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Turnbull was quick to praise his midfield partner, Soro, for helping him reach this feat, as both look to continue kicking on in the side.

“Since we changed to the diamond formation, it has worked really well for us.

“It’s good playing beside Soro. He’s intelligent and a great tackler.

“Everybody knows how good he is at winning the ball back and it’s great for me when he does that.

“When he gets it, he’s also very good at feeding it through to myself and the front boys.

“He’s a quiet character. He only speaks a wee bit of English but he laughs constantly, he’s always got a smile on his face.

“It must be tough for him away from football. Unlike the Scottish lads, he’s a long way from home.

“He’ll need to find things to keep him occupied away from the training ground but he comes in every day and enjoys it.

“I came into the team in early December and I’ve just tried not to look back since. I’ve played well, enjoyed my football and hopefully I continue that.

“I want to get more goals and create more chances for the team.”

The midfield duo looked to try and change Neil Lennon’s fortunes after an impressive performance against Lille in the Europa League and it certainly looked to be heading in the right direction.

Building up the momentum was key, going into last weeks fixture against Rangers and the Hoops began to do that, beginning to look more like the Celtic of old as Soro and Turnbull continued to push the side on.

However, unfortunately, it came to stand after last weeks defeat.

Both players continued to impress in the game though, in which Celtic dominated up until the hour mark after the red card which completely changed the game.

Those two players will be looking to kick on from here and develop as a duo in that midfield, in the hope that they can remain there for years to come.
