Celtic have a lot of important matches this season as they look to compete on all fronts but Ange Postecoglou has dismissed the idea that he has to keep his players ‘happy’.
At this point last year, Celtic’s squad badly lacked depth with players having to be shoehorned into positions to make up the team.
This was most evident towards the later end of the first part of the season which saw players like Josip Juranovic being used as a right winger.
In the January window, the manager tried to address some of the issues and tried to pad the squad out by bringing in four new players with majority of them having an instant impact.
Until this current summer window, the squad begun to look as though there was at least two players for each position which keeps competition in the side healthy.
With Ange Postecoglou’s style of football, rotation will be key to the Hoops as they compete in four competitions with the Champions League being one of them.
The manager will give every player a chance and has dismissed any idea that players will become unsettled if they are not playing regularly.
“They are at Celtic Football Club. If that is not happiness for them, I don’t know what is, they can find it somewhere else. It is not my job to keep them happy. My job is to make sure that we get the best out of them and give them every opportunity. And they will all get opportunities. They know that,” said Ange Postecoglou as reported by the Daily Record.
“If you want to play at a big club, and this is a big club, the reality of it is that part of that is you will have competition for places. It keeps you at your best and also you know you will require a big squad of players.”
Celtic have already added seven new players to the team this season and it looks as though business may not be yet finished.
