International Boss Takes Dig at Celtic Over Star Player

Norway boss Lars Lagerbäck has taken a dig at the Scottish league while discussing Norweigan hot prospect Kristoffer Ajer.

The defender had a major breakthrough season under the bhoys last season and was a big reason Celtic landed another treble. The Norweigan, signed by Ronny Deila to come in as a midfielder is now a fully fledged defender and a warrior for the bhoys.

Ajer has had to be patient since his move to Celtic, even being loaned out to Kilmarnock and becoming a fan favourite at Rugby Park during his time there.

Last season, the Norweigan stepped his progression up a notch and really solidified his place in the side at the expense of others.

The Norway boss seems content with Ajer’s progress but suggests he could be getting better faster away from the Scottish Champions.

“I don’t think the Scottish league inhibits his development, but it’s fair to say if he became a regular starter at a higher level, it would probably speed it up.” Lagerback told RecordSport.

“The harder the level you are at, the more you have to be on your toes.

“But to be fair, it’s about him being at a club where he gets playing time and Celtic do have Champions League matches every season so he is in a good environment.

“I think he takes less risks than he used to in his game, but that comes with experience.”
