One of the standouts from Celtic’s first pre-season friendly of the new campaign last Friday night, Bosun Lawal has set tongues wagging among many supporters.

The 21-year-old caught the eye with his second-half performance where he broke up the play well, made some driving runs from the middle of the park, and looked to break the lines with progressive forward passes.
Brendan Rodgers sang his praises post-match against Ayr, and John O’Shea has backed the Parkhead boss up.
Having handed Lawal his first senior Ireland call-up last month, O’Shea knows him well and recently spoke out.
“For a year or two now, he’s been looked at with high potential”, he said (Belfast Telegraph).
“When you look at him sometimes, he just looks a class player because he’s so comfortable in possession. He can drive past three or four players, he can stop attackers at ease.
“You can see why people think he can be a centre-back, and you can see why he’s going to be a driving force in midfield, too.
“It’s a fantastic option for Ireland going forward in terms of what he’s going to be. Most importantly, he’s going to be a very good player.
“What Celtic do with him now, let’s wait and see.”
An exciting season lies in wait for Lawal. He is clearly rated by Rodgers, and 2024/25 could well be a breakthrough campaign for him.
His loan at Fleetwood was in every way prosperous, and it appears to have served him well.
A few berths in the senior squad have opened up this summer, and perhaps the youngster can seize a place in the team after a successful loan, similar to Liam Scales last year.
