Interesting Update From Brendan Rodgers On The Future Of Key Celtic Player

Celtic returned to action on Sunday afternoon following a nineteen-day break. It seems that since January 2nd, the Hoops had been saving up goals with them romping to a dominative 5-0 win over Buckie Thistle at the weekend.

Goals came from five different scorers – Paulo Bernardo, Odin Holm, Kyogo, Luis Palma, and Rocco Vata – in what was an afternoon full of positives for manager Brendan Rodgers, albeit the opposition was from the fifth tier of Scottish football.

Amid the action, the Irish gaffer was asked about the future of key centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers. Last week, there was reported Premier League interest in the imposing defender although it came out over the weekend that Rodgers confirmed discussions are underway over a new Celtic deal for the 26-year-old.

At the Buckie game, though, Rodgers was asked on BBC Sportsound (via Football Scotland) if there is a contract offer on the table for the American internationalist: “No. I didn’t know that”, he said.

“(I would know) probably before you, I would say.”

There seems to be contrasting news regarding the future of Carter-Vickers. His current deal in Glasgow runs until 2026 but before then, Rodgers and fans will be eager for him to pen a new one.
