Incredible! Philippe Clement Bizarrely Hits Out At Celtic Penalty He Was Told Was Incorrect

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has spoken post-match about Willie Collum’s decision to award Celtic a penalty.

Celtic were awarded a penalty in the 51st minute of the game after Mohamed Diomande fouled Matt O’Riley in the Rangers box.

With a four-minute VAR review, Collum was sent to the monitor to review his initial decision but decided to stick with his initial choice.

O’Riley ultimately missed the penalty, but the Rangers manager gave an interesting answer when asked about the penalty.

Clement said: [Daily Record], “I didn’t see it clearly. I saw from a distance but a lot of people told me it was not a penalty.

“It was decision of the referee not VAR I think because they asked him to go and take a look. Ok, that is part of the game. Referee’s are there to make decisions.”

Yet again, Clement has decided to question correct refereeing decisions by claiming that he was told that a penalty should not have been awarded.

Despite initially appearing a competent manager, the Belgian has shifted in madness in recent months, beginning with his comments on the decision not to award a penalty against Rangers at Celtic Park in December despite an offside in the buildup.

Michael Beale was rightly criticised for his questionable comments to the press, but Clement hasn’t yet, despite himself continually bemoaning refereeing decisions and looking to create a disrespectful narrative coming from Brendan Rodgers and Celtic pre-match ahead of the game.

Clement’s comments don’t come in isolation. Previous Rangers managers like Beale, Steven Gerrard, and Pedro Caixinha have all made questionable comments to the press continually over the years, meaning that Clement’s reaction is more to do with the pressure of failing to stop Celtic than anything by looking to point blame on referees, weather, or even injuries.
