The title race took an unexpected turn when Ross County got their first-ever win over Rangers on Sunday.

With the Premiership race heating up, O’Neill provided his insights during an appearance on talkSPORT, where he discussed the recent developments affecting both Celtic and Rangers.

The Hoops enjoyed a solid victory over St Mirren, while their rivals suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Ross County, events that O’Neill believes have significantly tilted the title odds in Celtic’s favour.

It does now mean that if Celtic win their matches up until the derby at Parkhead, Rangers will need to take a win away from Glasgow’s east end.

With just five games remaining, the pressure is mounting, and O’Neill cautioned against complacency. Celtic’s path to the title, while now more favourable, still requires consistency and focus, as Rangers remain close behind and could narrow the gap to just one point with a win in their game in hand against Dundee.

He said: “What a boost that was for them yesterday! I’ve done this before: tentatively switched on the TV, found Rangers a goal in front, wrapped it up, left it. And then to come back and find out, they’ve won the game, its incredible, an incredible boost for Celtic.

“That boost psychologically, with so few games left, it could be massive.”
