Celtic have confirmed the signing of midfielder Paulo Bernardo on a season-long loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent.

The arrangement is reminiscent of the initial loan transfer of Jota two years ago, which the Glasgow-based club eventually turned into a permanent signing last year.
Speaking about the move, Paulo Bernardo was full of enthusiasm, particularly at the prospect of playing in the Champions League. The group stage draw was completed on Thursday, and Celtic are set to face challenging opponents in Feyenoord, Lazio, and Atletico Madrid.
“I have always seen Celtic as a big and a great club. The Champions League is a great competition and I’m ready for it,” Paulo declared on Celtic TV. “Our ambition is to be champions and perform very well in the group stages of the Champions League and go as far as we can.”
He also opened up about his conversations with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers ahead of the move. “The manager explained to me a little bit about Celtic and he asked me if I’m ready to be part of the team. It was really nice and I’m ready,” he added.
With his signing, Celtic not only strengthened their midfield options but also brought in a player eager to make an impact in both domestic and European competitions. Paulo Bernardo’s eagerness to play in the Champions League matches well with the club’s ambitions, making him a potentially key piece in the puzzle as they look to succeed on multiple fronts.
