‘I’m not going to lie’ – Matt O’Riley Pre-Season Admission

The international Celts played their first game of pre-season on Saturday in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Rapid Vienna.

After fringe players who had not been representing their countries over the summer won 7-0 mid-week, those who had a slightly mixed-up summer took to the field.

There were certainly some promising signs on Saturday contrasted with some classic Celtic moments with dodgy defending.

“It was nice to be back playing. There were certainly a few cobwebs I had to brush off but that’s the same for everyone.

“I’m not going to lie, it took me 10 or 15 minutes to get going in the body and then after that, I felt good.

“But it’s the first game so you can’t expect anything more. There were good bits and a lot of stuff to improve on because we were sloppy at times but it’s the first game.”

It was a great run-out for the Bhoys who have four matches left of pre-season before they start their title defence campaign.

Matt O’Riley To Take the SPFL by Storm

In his first six months in Glasgow, Matt was immense. He was instrumental in the Celtic midfield and epitomised Angeball.

He’ll be an exciting player to watch next season, after a full pre-season under the manager.
