‘I’m Back Home’ – Jota Reacts to Dream Celtic Return with Last-Gasp Goal

Jota marked his return to Celtic in style with a stoppage-time goal against Motherwell, sealing a dramatic win for Brendan Rodgers’ side. The Portuguese winger, back at the club after 18 months away, provided a timely reminder of his quality, tucking home a Daizen Maeda assist to spark wild celebrations among the travelling support.

With much discussion surrounding Kyogo Furuhashi’s January departure to Rennes, Jota’s return has been seen as a major boost. While still working his way back to full fitness, he wasted no time in making an impact, showcasing his attacking instincts with a poacher’s finish from close range.

The Celtic fans gave Jota a rapturous reception as he warmed up, and he repaid their faith in the best way possible. Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the 25-year-old expressed his delight at being back in green and white.

He said: (Sky Sports), “Definitely an amazing, amazing feeling. I think I couldn’t have written that better, and it’s just such a happy moment for me to come back for the team to deliver as well. And again, to celebrate with these amazing fans because they really deserve it.”

Jota’s time away saw ups and downs, but the winger was clear about where he feels at home.

“It’s been some quite difficult moments, obviously ups and downs. I just feel like I’m back home and I couldn’t be happier than this.”

The 25-year-old acknowledged he still has work to do to reach his peak again.

“It has been a long time since I’ve been playing consistently, and I know it will take time to reach my best levels, but with the amazing staff and the teammates, I will just work hard every day so I can achieve that as fast as possible.”

With Celtic fighting on multiple fronts, including a Champions League knockout tie against Bayern Munich, Jota’s return could prove to be a timely boost as the Hoops push for domestic and European success.
