It’s a disease. A constant echo reverberating across the river. Yet it comes up again and again.
Not only from in our circles but fans of other teams. Being based in the North west of England, I get all the usual strings of conversation.
Here are some tasters from conversations with “opinionated footy fans” in the past two weeks: –
I always get this one at least once or twice a week.
“Are you missing rangers?”
I usually retaliate with “Aye, like a hole in the head”
The typical English hardcore Prem fan, who believes there is no other league on the planet usually throw up this one.
“But Scottish football is worthless especially without your main rivals?”
I respond with “You being given the ability to speak never-mind put sentences together shocks me.”
I also hear this one a lot tragically from the uneducated football fans.
“I think the SPL is dying…”
I just sarcastically respond with “Aye, your right with that one” and roll my eyes.
A continual one I get is this one.
“Do you miss the old firm derby?.”
I tend to approach the answer with “Yes, but don’t we all love a bit of nostalgia. Reminiscing about the spankings we gave that dead club can be fun.”
If you have spotted the trend above, you have spotted right I am peeved off with the same old crap spilling out of “football fans” yap holes.
I for one can’t wait for this Ibrox financial tale to be put to bed, I want to hear different conversations, I want to hear “That Van Dijk is a cracking player isn’t he.” or “Commons is on fire, is he your top scorer.” or “What do you think of Griffiths so far?.”
The simple good things to talk about Celtic with fans of others clubs gets me talking more than sevco, finances and EBTs ever will.
We need to stop trying to be financial experts in essence of another clubs second downfall and putting more focus on them, preach the good about our club and come away from that lower league nonsense.
Leave the jabbering clowns to run the circus over the river into the ground and let’s talk about the real entertainment over at Celtic Park.
Who agrees?
