VAR is set to be introduced to the Scottish game on Friday night, with the clash at Easter Road between Hibs and St Johnstone the first match to use the technology.

Celtic are up next, with a 12.30 kick-off in the capital. VAR has been a major talking point for a few weeks now, but Ange is hoping that the hype will die down, admitting he’s more interested in discussing the football.
VAR has been implemented to ensure the big decisions are called correctly, not for players and managers to talk about and use as an excuse.
Ange Postecoglou told Sky Sports News that he’s the least excited person about its introduction but is adamant that Celtic’s game won’t change. He said;
“I’m the least excited man about VAR. My hope for this weekend is that we don’t have to use it because the referee doesn’t miss anything.
“It’s a tool for referees. It should affect us as managers or players. We’ve already got experience with it in Europe, so we know what it’s all about.
“I understand the general excitement, but I’d much rather be talking about football.”
Ange is correct in what he’s saying. The conversation will inevitably move away from the football on the pitch, especially during the first few weeks.
Hopefully, the equipment won’t cause controversy, and we will see a higher standard of officiating in Scotland; however, I don’t have much hope.
