Hendry claimed on Friday Celtic star Daizen Maeda is a target for Southampton as they attempt to plot their way out of the relegation zone in the English Premier League.

Daizen is just off the back of an impressive World Cup run and a great start to the second half of the season with Celtic.

After the original report, Mark Hendry has delivered a Saturday afternoon update on the report. The journalist telling his social media followers that he’d be ‘shocked’ if Celtic were to let go of Maeda half way through a season.

He also confirmed the St Mary’s club have the Japanese star on a shortlist at the moment and haven’t firmed up any interest.

Celtic fans can be relieved to hear it’s only interest at the moment. Saints doing their due diligence in Scotland in coming weeks & Daizen Maeda is on their watchlist, as are Rangers and Aberdeen players.

We know every Celtic player is available for the right price. However, we’d echo what Mark said about Celtic selling at this point in time.

Players who might leave are Josip Juranovic and Gorgios Giakoumakis. There’s no plans to let Daizen go anywhere.
